About me

I moved here to Turku, Finland after University in July 2005 to do many things, try and make something of myself, challenge myself and have lots of fun doing things I wouldn't normally do in the UK. I initially started this blog in 2006 as a diary while my other half was in the Army. I got bored with hearing/reading my whining and so the blog was left out to pasture for a few years.

I'm a bit of a foodie and I've decided that maybe I will try and share some of my successes (and failures) in the kitchen. It frustrates me when I make something that I tend to forget to document what I did, so I can figure out what I did right or wrong. So, I hope this blog will help me and some other experimental cooks along the way.

I love cooking, sometimes I embark on completely from scratch kind of cooking (money and time and energy depending) and sometimes I indulge in more lazy, from the packet cooking. I don't think I have a style of cooking, but I am influenced by India and the Far East. Neither Finnish nor English food have a good reputation, however during the long winter months, both cuisines have a place in our kitchen and you will find recipes from both countries (or my take on them) here. Bon Appetit or as the Finns say, Hyvää ruokahalua!
